Alma Athletics and the MIAA postponed all athletic events on Wednesday (Jan. 30) and Thursday (Jan. 31) due to extreme cold and wind chill. The men's and basketball games against Calvin were moved to Monday, Feb. 4, while the wrestling meet at Trine was pushed to Thursday, Feb. 7.
Alma to be Presented with NCAA Team Works Challenge Award
The NCAA will present the Alma College athletics department with the organization's Team Works Challenge Award during halftime of the men's basketball game against Calvin this Monday (Feb. 4). Alma earned the honor in December 2018, for the second consecutive year. Over 500 Alma student-athletes logged nearly 3,000 hours of community service from September through November. Student-athletes wrote Christmas cards, shopped for gifts, and packed and sent them to military troops in tandem with a local insurance company. Student-athletes have also been involved with volunteering at the local Masonic Home, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Habitat for Humanity, among others. Much of these efforts were led by Alma's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
