Acker named MIAA Player of the Week

Alma, Mich. - Sophomore Vann Acker (Eaton Rapids, Mich./Eaton Rapids) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Baseball Position Player of the Week, it was announced today (Monday, March 5) by the league office.

Acker went 5-for-13 in four games during the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, including a pair of home runs. In addition, he collected six RBIs and hit .385, second-best on the team. He was also walked twice and finished the week with a .500 on-base percentage. 

As the team's starting shortstop, Acker recorded seven putouts in four games and tallied 18 assists. He also participated in a pair of double plays and finished the trip with a fielding percentage of .926. 

Alma (3-2 overall) will travel to Westfield, Ind., this weekend for a pair of games against Hanover College (IN). The doubleheader is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday, March 11.
