Alma, Mich. - Sophomore Dylan Dzendzel (Royal Oak, Mich./Royal Oak) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Basketball Pitcher of the Week, it was announced today (Monday, April 9) by the league office.
Dzendzel tossed a complete-game shutout of Albion College last week, striking out a career-high 14 batters as the Scots topped the Britons, 7-0, to clinch the series.
Dzendzel owns a 1-1 record with a 3.74 ERA in five appearances this season, and has struck out 30 batters to tie for second on the team.
The Scots (13-9 overall, 6-4 MIAA) are completing a four-game series with Trine University (IN), which will conclude on Tuesday, April 10, at 2 p.m. at Klenk Park. Dzenzdel is the pitcher of record for Alma in Game 1, which was postponed in the top of the second inning on Monday (April 9) due to snowfall.
