Scots Taken Down by Hornets

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Alma College men's basketball team loss, 76-67, to the Kalamazoo College Hornets on the road Saturday. The Scots now sit at 2-9 overall while still searching for their first win in conference. Kalamazoo improves to 3-2 on the year and 2-2 in MIAA play. 

The Scots held a lead for much of the first half and went into halftime up by six. The margin remained very close throughout the second half as Alma continued to answer each shot made by the Hornets. A late run gave Kalamazoo an eight-point advantage with just over one minute and half remaining and that proved to be the deciding factor in the game.

Brandon Rake put out a solid performance with 16 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Nate Deyman led the Scots with 17 points off the bench, the sophomore hit five 3-pointers in the game. 

Alex King posted a game-high 10 assists while Cole Kleiver tallied 12 points and eight rebounds.

Alma prepares for its final home game of the season on Wednesday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m. The 2021 senior class will be honored before the game.
