Charlie Goffnett joined the men's basketball staff as an assitant coach in 2011-12 after serving as the interim head coach for the 2010-11 season.
No stranger to the hardcourt, Goffnett was the coach of the Alma College women’s basketball team from 1987 to 2009. During his 22 seasons on the sidelines, he led the Scots to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 1992. Goffnett posted a 333-217 record for a .606 winning percentage, guiding the Scots to three MIAA titles and five NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.
Goffnett also served as the first women's golf coach at Alma College, a post he held for 27 seasons from 1991-2018, helping Alma to three MIAA championships. He also directed the men's golf program from 2012-18.
A 1990 graduate of Central Michigan University, Goffnett previously served as a basketball coach at the University of Texas, the University of St. Thomas (Texas) and his alma mater, CMU, as well as in the high school ranks at Shepherd (Mich.) High School before joining the staff at Alma College in 1987.
He, his wife, Mary Ellen, and their daughter, Kathryn, reside in Alma.
