Danville, Ky. - The Alma College men's soccer team fell to Centre College on Friday (Sept. 7) evening, 2-0. Alma is now 1-2 after the loss, while Centre stays undefeated at 3-0.
Senior goalkeeper Andrew Reid (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston) made his first start in net since his freshman year. He made a career-high six saves. Junior midfielder Noah Canlas (Naperville, Ill. / Naperville Central) had a team-high two shots on goal. Freshman Danten McFate (Haslett, Mich. / Haslett) had three shots, though none of them were on net.
The Colonels got goals from Alexander Garuba and Richard Fell. Centre keeper made five saves.
How it Happened
- Garuba scored Centre's first goal in the 27th minute. The Colonels doubled their lead in the 68th minute on Fell's goal.
- Centre was given four yellow cards in the game, the first three just minutes before their second goal. Logan Dehner received the first at 61:31, Fell the second at 63:51 and Will Newton the third at 66:22. Ben Stinebruner also received one in the 89th minute.
- Lucas Foust (Brooklyn, Mich. / Jackson Lumen Christi) was given a yellow card in the 70th minute.
Alma remains at Centre College for a neutral site game against Spalding University at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 8). The Golden Eagles are 4-0.
