HOLLAND, Mich. - The Alma College softball team fell to Hope College in both games of an MIAA doubleheader on Tuesday. The Scots record drops to 13-9 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
In the bottom of the third, the Flying Dutch answer back with two runs. Fraser knocked in another run with a double to centerfield to bring in Hannah Solomon and make the score 2-2.
Hope took over the fifth and sixth innings and gained a 5-2 lead. The Scots though stormed back with a Aynslee Koutz double to centerfield that brought in both runners Jessica Eva and Hannah Solomon to make it a one-run game. Alma was unable to score the tying run and ended up falling by a score of 5-4.
Pitchers for the Scots were Daniella Little and Nevada Kennedy. Little struck out three batters while Kennedy earned two outs in relief. Fraser and Koutz had good days at the plate, with both having doubles and 2 RBIs each.
For the second game, the Flying Dutch scored three runs in the top of the first. In the bottom half of the inning, Scots answered back with Emma Fraser dropping a single to right field and scoring Hannah Solomon.
Designated player, Brooke Wells, had a sacrifice fly out to centerfield, scoring Fraser for Alma's second run of the game in the fourth inning. The Scots had a few stolen bases by Taylor Griffith and Jessica Eva, along with RBIs from Fraser and Wells. Alma ended up falling by a score of 11-2.
The Scots are on the road for a double header against Hope once more on Friday, April 9th starting at noon and then against Trine University at 2 pm.
