Men Place Fourth at Davenport University Tune-Up

Grand Rapids - The Alma College track and field team took part in the Davenport University Tune-Up on Saturday (April 27), with the men placing fourth and the women 10th out of 14 teams.

How It Happened

  • Timothy Minier (Battle Creek, Mich. / St. Philip Catholic Central) posted his own and the team's best time in the 200-meter dash at 22.62, finishing second. Jared Fleming did the same in the 400 at 52.76.
  • Jack Montgomery (Mikado, Mich / Oscoda Area) finished second in the 5000 meter run at 16:16.78. Karl Stroup (White Lake, Mich. / Lakeland) and Nathan Idalski (Gaylord, Mich. / Johannesburg-Lewiston) finished fifth and sixth at 16:42.13 and 16:54.39, respectively.
  • Aubrey Hemstreet (Portage, Mich. / Portage Central) won the women's 5000 with a personal best 18:43.52
  • Kyle Kraus (Middleville, Mich. / Thornapple-Kellogg) second in the javelin with a best of 43.66 meters, a new personal record. He also placed fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.80 meters.
  • Erin Goggins (Hastings, Mich. / Hastings) placed third in the pole vault with a 3.35-meter jump.
  • Charley Hengesbach (Saginaw, Mich. / Nouvel Catholic Central) tossed the discus 38.44 meters, the furthest in her collegiate career. Jacob Eck (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Eastside) also hit a PR 40.91 in the discuss, good for fifth place.
  • Mallory Munderloh (St. Louis, Mich. / St. Louis) led the Scots in the 1500 meter run, placing 13th at 5:19.01. Justin Jones (Rockford, Mich. / Cedar Springs) did the same for the men, coming in 11th at 4:20.99.
  • Jacob Wildenhaus (Jackson, Mich / Lumen Christi) (15.72) and Kraus (16.48) finished second and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.
