Track and Field Competes at SVSU

Saginaw, Mich. - Several members of the Alma College track and field team competed at the Saginaw Valley State University Tune-Up on Friday (Feb. 21).

Jacob Wildenhaus (Jackson, Mich / Lumen Christi) led the charge for the Scots with a second-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.61 seconds – just .03 seconds slower than his program-record breaking time last week at the WHAC vs. MIAA Challenge.

Cornelia Gotaas (Alma, Mich. / Alma) set a new personal best in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.17 and a sixth place finish.

Payton Hirschenberger (Freeland, Mich. / Saginaw Nouvel) finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.44 meters.

Charley Hengesbach (Saginaw, Mich. / Nouvel Catholic Central) finished seventh in the shot put with a distance of 11.76 meters. Bailey Hoffman (Olivet, Mich. / Olivet) finished eighth with 11.72 meters. Mariah Dunkin placed ninth with 11.67 meters. Sophie Patrick finished just outside the finals with a distance of 11.64 meters.

Alma and the rest of the MIAA will travel to Trine University (IN) for the MIAA Indoor Field Day on Saturday (Feb. 29).
