Wilmington, Ohio - The Alma College women's basketball team dropped the opening game of the Wilmington College Tournament to Wilmington 72-52 on Tuesday evening. With the loss, Alma falls to 2-6 on the year while the Quakers improve to 7-2.
Kaitlyn Kendall (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) led the Scots with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting and 3-of-3 from three-point range. Alma was outrebounded 52-26 in the game as Wilmington's Mary Moyer led all players with 18 boards.
Trailing the whole game, Alma cut Wilmington's lead to six points with 4:24 remaining in the first half on a three-pointer by Kendall. The Quakers would bounce back with two straight buckets to take an 11 point lead at the half.
The Scots trailed by as much as 25 in the second half. They shot 34-percent from the field and 40-percent from three-point range in the contest.
Alma's next game in the Wilmington Tournament is Wednesday, December 21. It will play the loser of tonight's game between Thomas More and Ohio Christian at 1 p.m.
