Wilmington, Ohio - The Alma College women's basketball team fell to Ohio Christian University 73-65 in the consolation game of the Fred Raizk Memorial Tournament at Wilmington College on Wednesday afternoon. Kaitlyn Kendall (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) was named to the All-Tournament team. Over two games, she averaged 15.5 points on 61.25-percent shooting.
Hannah Thelen (Pewamo, Mich./Pewamo-Westphalia) led the Scots (2-7) with 17 points, two three-pointers and six rebounds. Kendall and Tara Padgett (Freeland, Mich./Freeland) also posted double figures for Alma with 14 and 11 points respectively.
Alma held a two point lead at the end of the first quarter and extended its lead to as much as seven in the opening minutes of the second. Ohio Northern (9-6) went on to outscore the Scots 19-13 in the second quarter to take a four point lead at halftime.
Alma tied the game at 39 less than two minutes into the second half and got to within one with 4:27 remaining in the third quarter but were never able to regain the lead. The Lady Trailblazers closed the quarter up five and opened up a 12 point lead in the final frame.
Padgett and Kelsey Wolffis (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) continue to climb the program record books. Padgett now has 129 steals in her four-year career, six out of seventh-place and 88 made three-pointers. Wolffis now has 83 blocks in her career, eight behind Megan Hobblet for second all-time.
Alma has a week off before returning to action on Wednesday, December 28 at Aquinas College.
