Women's basketball falls at home to #22 Trine

Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball team suffered an 87-42 defeat at the hands of No. 22 Trine University on Wednesday (Feb. 15) night at Art Smith Arena. The Scots fell to 8-16 overall and 6-9 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, while the visiting Thunder improved to 21-2, including 14-1 in the MIAA to remain in a tie for first place with one game remaining in the regular-season.

Senior Kaitlyn Kendall (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) led the Scots with 15 points, hitting three of her four three-point shots, while senior Tara Padgett (Freeland, Mich./Freeland) added 10 points.

Trine opened the game with a 14-0 run and never looked back, leading by 30 points at halftime. The Thunder, which will play Hope on Saturday for the MIAA regular-season championship, were led by Hayley Martin's game-high 19 points

Alma will close out the 2016-17 season on Saturday, Feb. 18, hosting Adrian College at Art Smith Arena. The Scots will honor their three seniors - Kendall, Padgett and Breanna Collins (Sheridan, Mich./Central Montcalm) - prior to the 3:00 p.m. tip-off, and will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1992 NCAA Division III championship team at halftime.
