Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's basketball defeated Anderson University (IN) on Saturday (Nov. 23). The Scots continue their winning streak making them 4-2 and the Ravens 1-2 on the day.
Anderson came out hot and led by five in the first quarter until Alma started pulling away in the second. The Scots scored 19 points to the Ravens' six in the second period to take a 34-19 lead at the half.
The Scots shot 39 percent from the field and 36 percent from the three-point line, while the Ravens shot 28 percent from the field and 11 percent from three. Alma also beat out the Ravens in rebounds 45 to 38, assists 16 to seven, and bench points 23 to 10.
Junior Stasha Warchock (Marquette, Mich. / Marquette) led the Scots in points with 17 and was closely followed by junior Emily Long (Dayton, Ohio / Arch Bishop Alter) with 15. Junior Jeny Brandt (Escanaba, Mich. / Escanaba) had seven rebounds, three steals, and two blocks, making her fourth in the conference for blocks per game with 2.2.
The Scots will be back in Art Smith Arena on Monday (Nov. 25) and will be hosting University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh (WI) at 5:00 p.m.
