Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's lacrosse team fell to Earlham College (IN) 9-3 on Saturday (Feb. 22).
Alma scored the first two goals of the game within the first ten minutes of action. Johnna Pullen (Caledonia, Mich. / Caledonia) was first on the board with her sixth goal of the season. Olivia Benoit (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North) followed shortly thereafter with her first of two goals on the day.
After four Earlham goals, Benoit cut the deficit in half with her ninth goal of the season just before the end of the half. The Quakers added to their lead in the second.
Benoit led the Scots with two goals on six shots. Allie Ray (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue) had a team-high nine ground balls in addition to 15 saves. Courtney Hartnagle (Midland, Mich. / Bullock Creek) picked up five ground balls. She and Pullen led Alma with two caused turnovers apiece.
The Scots will travel south on Friday (March 6) to face Hiram College (OH) for a game starting at 7:00 p.m.
