Scots Clipped by Belles in Home Opener

ALMA, Mich.  The Alma College women's lacrosse team lost their first home game of the 2021 season against the Saint Mary's College Belles, 14-2. The Scots are now 1-1, as Saint Mary's starts the season off 1-0.

Alma kept the Belles off the scoreboard for the first 14 minutes with some solid defensive play. Once St. Mary's started to find the back of the net it built a commanding lead that the Scots could not come back from.

The two goals for Alma were scored by freshman Sam Peterson and senior Alyssa Gall. Peterson netted her goal in the first four minutes of the second half on a free position shot. Gall hit the back of the net later in the second half with an assist from Johnna Pullen. In goal, senior Allie Ray made nine saves.

Kalyn Thompson led the Scots in ground balls (5) and caused turnovers (3). Peterson earned three draw controls for Alma.

Up next, the Scots will be on the road to face off against Albion College. The game starts at 1:00 pm on Saturday February 27th.
