Ladd Named MIAA's Most Valuable Wrestler, Brewer to All-Conference

Freeland, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced its All-Conference wrestling team on Friday (Jan. 31) and two Alma College Scots have been honored by the league.

Senior Brendan Ladd (Ortonville, Mich. / Brandon) was selected as the Most Valuable Wrestler of the MIAA as he currently holds a 14-1 record on the year. The two-time All-American also repeats as the best wrestler in the 141 weight class. He is currently ranked as the seventh-best wrestler in his weight class in the country.

Ladd dominated the competition in MIAA duals. The senior defeated both Trine's Justin Davis and Adrian's Brandan Kammer by way of pin fall in 1:21 and 5:00, respectively. He completed the conference sweep against Olivet's Andrew Castaneda with a win by decision, 6-2.

Sophomore Lucas Brewer (Belleville, Mich. / Huron) was selected to the All-MIAA team in the 174 weight class. 

The second-year wrestler went undefeated in conference duals. Brewer started his first match in the conference with a win by pin fall in 2:02 against Efrain Amezquita of Trine. He would follow it up with a victory by decision, 7-3, over Adrian's Bryant Moore. In the final conference dual of the year, Brewer defeated Olivet's Nicholas Worden by major decision, 13-1.
