ALBION, MICH. - The Alma College women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 setback to Albion College Wednesday (Oct. 9) evening in a tightly contested battle.
Paige Moore (St. Johns, Mich. / St. Johns High School) scored her third goal of the year in the 84th minute. Jackie Jarvis (Fowlerville, Mich. / Fowlerville High School) led the team with three shots on goal. Ally Wentworth (Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Mt. Pleasant) made a season-high 10 saves in the game.
The Britons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute and neither team scored for the next 60 minutes of game time. Moore's goal came in quick response to what would end up being the game-winning goal by Kaitlyn Piontkowsky in the 79th minute. Alma was not able to get a shot off in the final six minutes in an effort to tie the game.
Alma was outshot 20-13 in the contest. Fouls were even at nine apiece. Albion's Kailey Dodge and Alma's Ashley Oldham were both given yellow cards.
