Alma, Mich. - The Alma College women's tennis team opened the 2017 season on Wednesday (Feb. 8), falling to Spring Arbor University by a 9-0 margin at the Stone Recreation Center.
The visiting Cougars (4-7 overall) only dropped one game in the opening three doubles matches and won by straight sets in five of the six singles contests.
In the No. 2 singles match, freshman Caroline Ross (Sandusky, Mich./Sandusky) took the opening set, 6-4, before Spring Arbor's Monika Wynne responded with a 6-0 victory in the second set. Wynne took the tiebreaker, 10-6, to get the win.
The Scots will be idle until Friday, Feb. 17, when they travel to Cornerstone University for a non-conference match.
