Women's Cross Country finishes third at MIAAs

Albion, Mich. - The Alma College women's cross country team finished third at the MIAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday (Oct. 29), held at the Tomac Woods Golf Course. Alma, with 112 points, edged out Trine University, which was fourth with a score of 113.

Senior Kaitlyn Arnold (Jackson, Mich./Northwest) finished second overall for the Scots to earn First Team All-MIAA honors for the third straight season with a time of 21:57.2. Hope College's Erin Herrmann topped the field with a time of 21:37.9 as the Flying Dutch won the event.

Junior Hannah Garn (Charlotte, Mich./Charlotte) and junior Chelse Van Spronsen (Denison, Mich./Jenison) both finished in the top 25, with Garn crossing the line in 23:58.4 to place 21st, while Van Spronsen was 24th with a mark of 24:11.5. Sophomore Mallory Munderloh (St. Louis, Mich./St. Louis) added to the score with a 32nd-place finish in 24:30.1.

Alma now begins preparations for the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the West Ottawa Golf Course in Holland, Mich.
