Wrestling Competes at NWCA Championships

CORALVILLE, Iowa - The Alma College wrestling team took on the best in Division III at the Division III National Wrestling Coaches Assocation Championship in Iowa on Friday. The Scots had one wrestler in each of the 10 weight classes with many of them earning wins throughout the day. 

Jayce Kuehnlein was ranked seventh in the 157 lb weight class tournament. He ended up going 3-2 on the day with back-to-back wins in the consolation bracket. 

Austin Wieczorek was ranked 10th in the 133 lb weight class. He won his first two bouts before falling to the number-two seed in his weight class. Wieczorek finished 2-2 for the tournament. 

After dropping his first match of the day, Matt Tomsett rebounded by winning three-straight bouts. He ended up with a 3-2 record for the tournament. 

Chase Beecher was the 10th ranked wrestler at 125 pounds. He won his opening match and ended up 2-2 on the day. 

Alexander Henry, Joe Vondrasek, and Erik Arnegard all earned victories in their respective weight classes.
