FREELAND, Mich. - Alma College women's soccer senior Makenzie Rajewski has been awarded MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 4th. Rajewski is the second Alma player to receive the award this season after Ally Wentworth earned it back on March 23rd.
The Scots went 2-0 this past week and Rajewski had a major impact in both games. According to Head Coach Meghan Gorsuch, the senior is a crucial part of the Alma defensive line, dangerous on both sides of the ball and provides speed that no one else can match in the back line. Against Albion College on Monday, March 29th, Rajewski was tasked with marking one of the fastest players in the league, and limited her to just two shots on goal which helped the Scots earn the 2-1 win against the Britons.
In the 4-3 win at Olivet College, the Midland native scored less than three minutes into the game to give the Scots an early lead. The focus of the game was to come out strong against the Comets and Rajewski provied a huge spark to help power Alma to victory.
Alma will look to build on its two-game winning streak later this week when it heads to Hope College for a conference matchup with the Flying Dutch on Friday, April 9th. Game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
